Depending on the stature and history of the fallen this event can fall anywhere from a single cell to the culmination of an entire story arc to which this was the intended conclusion.
Often these can be an 'Event' due to the drastic nature of killing off a hero meaning the end of a publishing run for a character (if its the central character of the comics funeral) at least for the time being, as comic book deaths rarely is anything more than temporary.
