Batman and an artist must discover the identity of a mysterious mutilator of the artist’s portraits. Continuing from last issue...Barbara Gordon was in Madrid, Spain, to collect a rare manuscript for the Gotham Library when she suddenly found herself caught up in a murder mystery involving an aging bullfighter’s lost bull. Suspecting bullfighter El Grandos, a young bullfighter named Paco or the groundskeeper Manolo as potential culprits, Batgirl sets out to search for clues and stop the “Phantom Bullfighter” from striking again the next night.

Batman encounters the Man in the eternal mask. A madman is loose, destroying paintings of a particular artist, including a portrait of Batman. Turns out that a promising young high school footballer was involved in a car crash. His handsome features disfigured, he was put back together by a plastic surgeon - who was also an artist. The surgeon was so proud of his work that he asked the footballer to pose while he painted him. However, a week or so later, the stitches fell apart, and the young man was now looking more grotesque than ever. To hide his features, he now wears a mask of how he should look.

In revenge, he sets out to destroy all the paintings ever done by the surgeon and finally to kill the man he blamed for his condition. Batman arrives in time to prevent murder.

In the follow up story, Batgirl is on the trail of a killer on a Spanish bull ranch. On night patrol, she catches someone she thinks is the killer, but he is only a young man and he breaks free and escapes. Before long, Batgirll finds he was telling the truth and finds the real culprit.
