As the Justice League gets closer to penetrating the secret of Mount Thunder, a strike force trained by Captain Atom is sent to remove them at any cost. Plus, a former member of the League comes seeking help from his old comrades--before his time runs out.

Captain Atom, Blue Beetle, Maxima Amazing Man and Booster Gold are gathered in a secret military base and a couple United States special task forces are assigned to take them out. The first one is convinced to leave the other one is more than willing to fight and kill. As the team struggles to make sense of the base they are attacked by the second team who appear to be robots and they apparently kill Captain Atom.

Meanwhile Firestorm is looking for the Justice League at it's destroyed base. He bumps into Oberon and Skeets. Skeets had been in the rubble only moments before Firestorm arrived. Oberon and Skeets offer to help him find the rest of the league. Firestorm is hoping someone in the Justice League will be able to help him cure his cancer.
