Jonah Hex, answering a telegram, is offered $5,000 to pilot a balloon across the Atlantic Ocean. When he refuses, the balloon's owner knocks him out and puts him aboard anyway. Once out at sea, Hex tries to signal a passing ship, but ends up a prisoner aboard the ship when they think he's a spy.
