Planetary travels to Japan to investigate the unofficial history of Island Zero, a breeding ground for giant radioactive monsters.

A deranged novelist named Ryu and his men arrive on a deserted island to begin the planning of a revolution against Japan. In Tokyo, the Planetary team arrive at the Japanese Planetary office and are informed by an agent that Ryu has discovered Island Zero: a place with giant mutated forms of lizards and insects.

Elijah Snow seems to not be happy with his new job at Planetary, however the Planetary team arrive on Island Zero and see Ryu and his men walk into the body of a giant reptile. Ryo commands his followers to eat of the creature's body, and shoots a dissenter. Jakita and Elijah rush to stop Ryu, with Jakita demonstrating her super-speed. When confronted, Ryu chooses to shoot a nerve gas container which kills him, his guards and his men. Elijah uses his freezing powers to dissipate the cloud.

Later, Jakita tells Snow that the giant monsters had first appeared the day after the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. She says that there was a glowing flash above the island but all reports were dismissed, lost or buried. She states that Planetary is unsure of the origin of the creatures, and that they died off in the mid-seventies without leaving Island Zero or breeding.

Elijah then spots a giant winged lizard flying above them. He questions Jakita that she'd said they died off; Jakita simply responds: "I did. Isn't that great?"
