War Of The Toy Soldiers

Retired General, Roger Fielding, spent his days enacting battle strategies, with his collection of toy soldiers. One morning, upon returning to his "war room", Fielding notices that his white army has been moved. Fielding, incredulously, believes the toy soldiers, of their own accord, moved during the night. Worse, for Fielding, the white army seems to be closing in on the general figure, which represents Fielding himself. For several days, Fielding worked out strategies to return the advantage to the blue army.

Every morning, though, the white army would be found to have regained superior positions. Fielding dies of a heart attack, on his imaginary battlefield. Fielding's housekeeper reveals that, unbeknownst to Fielding, the general walked in his sleep. At night, the sleepwalking general would move the white army's postions, to try to outmaneuver the blue army. Fielding was battling against himself all along, and the strain proved to be too much for his aged heart.
