Shadow Lass gets hurt during a Legion battle against a plant creature.

The Legion of Super-Heroes are summoned to the depths of Metropolis, in the sewers, where some maintenance workers claimed that weird things have occurred, including the water coming to life and attacking them. While the Legion investigates, they are attacked by a sludge-like monster. They are able to cause the monster to back away but not before Shadow Lass is hurt into a comatose state. They rush back to the Legion HQ where Mon-El, Shadow Lass' boyfriend, angrily responds and gets the help of Brainiac 5 to help her. Meanwhile, the sludge creature attacks R.J. Brande, prompting the Legion's assistance again. Brainiac 5 and Sun Boy stay behind and are also attacked by another sludge monster.
