Superman recruits Supergirl’s help in combating the time rifts discovered during Zero Hour. While heading back to New York City to regroup with the rest of the heroes, Superman stops by Smallville to check up on his parents. However, he is shocked to find Jor-El and Lara standing there. Evidently, the time fluctuations have caused an alternate-reality Jor-El and Lara to appear; a couple from a timeline where Krypton did not explode after they sent Kal-El to Earth. In this continuity, Kal-El has a brother Zan-El. While Jor-El and Lara want Superman to return to them on Krypton, Superman realizes that this is just another time anomaly. He does get to spend one last moment with them before they fade, just before Metron arrives to urge Superman to meet up with the rest of the heroes.
