“River Run” continues as Swamp Thing visits a world where Alec Holland is merely a botanist working to create a bio-restorative formula-but death still haunts the swamp.

In the fifth story of River Run, Darker Genesis, Swamp Thing meets an Alec Holland who never became Swamp Thing, whose wife Linda was never murdered, and they have a daughter named Anna. It's now up to Swamp Thing to make sure his counterpart does not suffer the same tragedy that made him what he is today, but someone must take his place in this world. What's a plant elemental to do?
