Continuing the saga of ARMAGEDDON 2001. Waverider looks into the possible future of the Fastest Man Alive and finds that ten years in the future, Wally West has retired from his life as Flash... until he's forced to once again don the scarlet costume and survive attacks by a barrage of foes both old and new to save the life of his super-fast son.

Waverider continues his search for Monarch. This time he goes into Wally West's future. He sees him as a family man in the Federal Witness Protection Program, he has been there since he got married. Unfortunately, the mob boss who they were hiding from has found Wally and his family. Wally's son has inherited his speed but not the force field that has always protected him from friction. The child saves the life of a little girl, but is badly burned, so Wally takes him to the hospital. There the mob boss kidnaps Wally's son.
