Murderous beings rise seemingly out of shadows, seeking secrets of Thanagarian science.

Here Hawkman is called upon to prevent the invasion of Earth. This invasion begins in the shadows with five Thanagarians appearing out of nowhere to force a petty thief to try to steal Hawkman’s anti-gravity device. Hawkman is able to stop that particular theft from occurring, but while he was away, a second squad attacked his wife, Hawkwoman. He returns to help—only to find her image burned into a wall as if by a nuclear explosion!
