Cooper Santiago must go searching for Jordan Tyler (the man Santiago was forced to give superpowers to) after Jordan takes the first chance he sees and leaves Cooper Santiago before he was able to force Jordan to sign a contract or give up his powers. Santiago and his business partner/lawyer, Alison Parrish, finally track Jordan down but not before a crooked cop realized Jordan had telekinetic powers and was blackmailing him into helping raise enough money for the cop to buy his way into a high-stakes poker game. With the help of Cooper's cunning and Alison's knowledge of the law, Jordan is able to make sure the cop leaves him alone.
Finally, Santiago gets Jordan to sign the contract that not only prevents him from divulging the origins of his powers but also makes him the newest employee of Supernova Solutions. With the most the most talented and powerful person Cooper Santiago has yet to find (and create) now working for him, Santiago is finally sure things are starting to look up.
But before Cooper can even finish telling Jordan how rich they're all going to be, suddenly one of Santiago's former superheroes, Rory Goodman, appears and pulls a gun on Cooper Santiago. Angry that Santiago took away his powers, Rory has come for revenge and within minutes of the happily-ever-after Cooper Santiago felt he found, he is shot in the chest.
Cooper Santiago blacks out and when he wakes up he finds himself in a hospital and also without the glowing tattoos on his hands - the signs of his power - anymore. While he was in surgery, Alison Parrish was somehow able to take the tattoos and his powers. With Alison in control of the powers and the knowledge to run Supernova Solutions, what will become of Cooper Santiago is left in her hands.
