When Vigilante was a lawyer he convicted Leonard Kord of assault, rape and murder of a crime that Mr. Kord didn't commit. When Mr. Kord is released from prison Vigilante believes it was due to a technicality so he goes and beats Mr. Kord without Mercy until J. J. Davis catches up with him and tells Vigilante that Mr. kord was actually Innocent of the crime and that it was not a technicality. This causes a great amount of self doubt for Vigilante believe he can only do his job as a vigilante if he is 100% right. He ends up taking a job for his father only to realize that he has to be Vigilante.
