cover

The Thing is back! Reed designs a special exo-suit that simulates the Thing’s powers when Ben wears it. Meanwhile, it is discovered that an evil outsider is responsible for Power Man’s outbursts. But who?

This issue explains why Luke Cage attacked the Fantastic Four in the previous issue. It turns out that Luke was under the control of the Puppet Master, one of the FF's oldest foes, who first appeared in FF #8. Here Luke Cage kidnaps Alicia Masters, the step-daughter of Phillip Master, aka the Puppet Master. The cover for this issue provides one of the better cliffhangers for a Fantastic Four cover. Not only do we see Alicia Masters falling out of the Fantasti-Car, but the wording implies that Alicia falls to her death in the issue. Obviously, such does not happen and both she and the Puppet Master are saved by Mr. Fantastic.
