When leftist underground leader, Hildy Dawes, finally appeared after years of hiding, the Man-Killer showed up and kidnapped her to use her for another anti-man plan. This time, the villain wished to blow up a civics and racquet club several important businessmen would be holding a meeting at.

Jennifer Walters soon tracked down the Man-Killer's hideout and learned of her plan, but due to a misunderstanding, a scuffle occurred between Spider-Man and the then transformed She-Hulk. After realizing the pointlessness of the fight, the two decided to work together against the villain instead.

In the end, the two managed to stop the explosion from hurting anybody, with She-Hulk tossing the explosives into the river. However, at the cost of her life, Hildy Dawes sacrificed herself to stop the Man-Killer, leaving the two heroes with haunted dreams to come.
