This issue marks the beginning of one of the greatest runs in Avengers history as the dream team of Neal Adams and Tom Palmer join the creative staff in this extra-sized issue. We learn that last issue not all was as it seemed, and the Avengers team reunites while searching for the missing Captain Marvel and Rick Jones. The battle is joined with a group of Skrulls, masquerading as the Fantastic Four and last seen as a group of cows in Fantastic Four #2. The Avengers start to win the fight but are soon broadsided by the power of The Super Skrull.
