Chris is ant sized and lost in the ventilation system of the S.H.I.E.L.D.Helicarrier. The Helicarrier is attacked by the reanimated corpses of super-heroes under the control of Hydra. Chris joins the fight against the Hydra controlled invaders, but is killed. Eric, holding his best friend's dead body, seizes the opportunity to take the armor of Chris' dead body, and puts it on just before the Helicarrier crashes.

Meanwhile in the post Civil War timeline Eric is out on a date with a woman he had saved from a mugger earlier that evening.
