A meeting between Storm and Rogue goes horribly wrong when Rogue is attacked by Gyrich's crew, who are packing some major heat--Forge's neutralizer.

When Rogue runs away from the X-Men, Storm tracks her down and tries to convince her that her place is with the X-Men. She freely let's Rogue drain her powers to demonstrate her trust and to let Rogue experience the world through her eyes.

Unfortunately, Henry Peter Gyrich has decided that Rogue is Public Enemy #1 and must be stopped. His solution is to use a device created by the mutant Forge that will strip away the powers of whoever it targets. Gyrich's team finds Rogue and is about to use the gun on Rogue when Forge -- upset that the weapon was going to be used -- leaps at Gyrich, diverting his shot and causing it to hit Storm, stealing her powers away.

The Dire Wraiths watch the battle and realize that the weapon could be used to banish them as well and decide that Forge must die!

Also in this issue, Rachel calls Scott Summers in Alaska where he is living with Madelyne Pryor. She is unable to force herself to say anything to them, but they hang up, she says to herself "Dad... Mom..."
