X-23 continues to be held captive and questioned by Captain America and Matt Murdock. She tells them more about the Trigger scent that makes her kill anyone marked with it. The conditioning began when she was eight years old. She tells how she was used to kill an assassin that was blackmailing Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin of crime.
Back when she went to her Aunt Debbie's and was hanging out with her cousin, Megan, X-23 was discovered. Her aunt's boyfriend turned out to be a Facility agent. The plan was put in place for X-23 to kill them with use of the Trigger. The agent was preparing a kettle of tea mixed with the scent. He calls Megan and asks them to pick up a prescription for her mother. On the way home, X-23 sees a newscast of the announcement by Professor Charles Xavier that they were mutants. X-23 catches a glimpse of Wolverine on a television.
As Megan and X-23 arrive, Megan accidentally knocks into the agent and spills the tea on him. As she helps to pick him up, he begins to panic, hysterically asking "Where is X-23?!" Marked with the Trigger, X-23's eyes go red as she pops out her claws.
