X-Force and Cable have gone their separate ways! Without their mysterious leader, X-Force find themselves roadtripping towards new adventures!

Having picked up James Proudstar in Detroit, the X-Forcers are now in Ohio dealing with a broken down car. Repairs require the team to stay the night in the town of Minerva. They soon run into money troubles when Roberto DaCosta learns his trust fund account is frozen.

In Langley, Virginia, Domino learns from her doctor Rebecca Schuyler that the device implanted in her neck is inhibiting her neural system, but cannot be removed without permanent damage. Meanwhile, Deadpool sneaks into the Xavier Institute looking for Theresa Rourke.

Once the team in Minerva is settled into a cheap motel, James relates how he found the Vanisher in the other dimension and returned to Earth, where Sledge provided him with the address of Michael Whitecloud. They hear a ruckus outside and look to see two mobsters trying to abduct a young man. The mutants scare off the thugs, and their intended victim, Richie Alegria, offers them a job.
