In the future, Cable's rag-tag Askani followers settle in Akkaba, Egypt. Unbeknownst to them, Akkaba is the birthplace of Apocalypse. To punish the rebels, Apocalypse unmercifully slaughters every man, woman, and child and leaves the rebel camp in ruins as a show of power.

When Cable travels to the past, he vows that he will stop Apocalypse before the future slaughter of Akkaba can occur. His vow is thwarted, however, by his own son, Genesis, who believes himself to be the rightful heir of the throne of Apocalypse. As a show of his power, Genesis slaughters the citizens of Akkaba in the present day.
