Located about 300km/h from Alice Springs, Ayers Rock is a massive rock and iconic tourist destination. The rock consists mainly of britle sandstone and is sacred to the Aborigine tribes of Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara.

The world reknowned natural icon is said to be over 348m high (1,142ft) and the bulk of its base approximately 9.4km (5.8 mi) in circumference, making it the largest single rock formation in the world.

The rock is very sacred to the Aborigine people of the area, some parts of the rock it is deemed forbidden to take photographs or walk on, as it may upset spirits. These myths and traditional beleifs are much of the reason this gigantic formation is one of Australia's oldest and most treasured natural wonders.
