Bete Noire
The fictional city featured in the DC and IDW volumes of "Fallen Angel". Similar to New Orleans in atmosphere, it is host to many unique locales and buildings.
Bete Noire, meaning Black Beast in french, is often called "The city that shapes the world". What's happen there ripples outward. In this place, no one stays if the city wants you to leave. And no one leaves if the city wants you to stay. In fact, it may be possible to leave if done under the right circumstances. But if you don't, Bete Noire will keep you imprisoned. No one knows the intentions of this city in advance. Bete Noire speaks to its magistrate, through Enoch, grandson of Cain, its first magistrate.
Times mean nothing in this place who dwells eternally in shadows. Weeks, hours, days, year, they all blend together.
In the past, Bete Noire was a city of light and life took place during the day. Today, the city now exists only at night. For people who come from outside, the city is invisible during the day and is not accessible.
