In the Marvel universe, Chernobyl has become the home to the new vampire nation. A new Legion of the Unliving pretended to start a civil war among vampires weeding out the weak ones, including Dracula. For protection, Dracula turned to Russia and convinced them to give him Chernobyl, since it was uninhabitable to everyone but the undead. Afterward, the Legion joined Dracula at his side.
After helping the various superheroes face off against Knull, Dracula was able to leverage for recognition by the UN, who had at least one condition, the Blade be made sheriff to keep them in order.
