General Portrayal
Like many nations in the Middle East region of West Asia, Lebanon is rarely a specified location in comics but due to its proximity to Israel it is a rare but present location in some Biblical stories or depictions of the Crusades. The present nation had a significant uptick in its depictions for a few years in the late 80's/early 90's, coinciding with the conclusion of the Lebanese Civil War. These depictions frequently relied on it being in the middle of a war, experiencing political turmoil or related to terrorists and hostage-taking. Multiple stories highlighted the people's animosity to Americans. As this region is one of those that rarely produces comics outside of its citizens who publish in international industries, comic depictions are generally biased in one direction.
