General Portrayal
War comics were already popular by the time of the Korean War so that the conflict was already being published in comics within months of the war's start, early examples including the original G.I. Joe. As these comics were published from the American perspective, North Korea was portrayed negatively in a similar fashion to what other Communist antagonists in comics would become in the early decades of the Cold War.
Outside of the Korean War it has not become a particularly common location to feature, especially in comparison to the neighboring People's Republic of China and South Korea.
