The Kingdom of Norway, is a constitutional monarchy in Northern Europe that occupies the western portion of the Scandinavian Peninsula.

Norway is a country in Northern Europe and part of Scandinavia. The capital and largest city is Oslo. Norway was established back in the 9th century. From 1397 to 1523 it was part of the Kalmar Union with Denmark and Sweden.

Denmark gradually started dominating the Union. Sweden departed in protest. Norway under Danish control from 1523 to 1814. At the end of the Napoleonic Wars, Denmark was forced to cede it to Sweden. Sweden and Norway parted peacefully in 1905, following a referendum. Norway is qualified for the European Union but has never entered, fearing a repeat of the Kalmar Union experience.

Norway borders Russia, Finland and Sweden.
