Old Bailey
The Central Criminal Court of England and Wales, a building located in London that houses part of the Crown Court
Overview
First constructed in 1902, and opened to the public in 1907, the Old Bailey is one of the most recognizable justice buildings, as it is topped by a statue of Lady Justice. Trials held at the Old Bailey concern major criminal cases that took place in Greater London or, rarely and only in exceptional circumstances, cases that took place in other regions of England or in Wales.
