Upon completion it surpassed the World Trade Center as the tallest building in the world at 1450'. It wasn't until 1998 that the Petronas Towers in Malaysia became the tallest buildings in the world at 1483'. As of 2017 it is ranked as the 16th tallest building in the world. In 2009 the tower's name was changed to the Willis Tower.
