South Korea is a Republic that was established in 1948. The capital and largest city is Seoul. With about 10 million people as residents and a total of 24, 5 millions in its Metropolitan area, Seoul is the second largest metropolitan area in the world. Only the Tokyo metropolitan area is more populated. South Korea has land borders with North Korea, sea borders with the People's Republic of China and Japan.
