Springfield is located in the southwestern corner of Missouri, roughly half an hour north of the Missouri-Arkansas border. It is the third largest city in the state and is the county seat of Greene County. Springfield is the original home of Bass Pro, and is the current home of the Assemblies of God World Headquarters and Missouri State University. Cullen Bunn and Michael Frizell are among the graduates of Missouri State University, and both currently reside in Springfield, MO.

Springfield was mentioned in Iron Man 3 as one of the locations attacked by Extremis users. The city is also depicted in Monsters Unleashed! as being the home of Kei Kawade before the events of the limited series unfold.
