In Firestorm The Nuclear Man: Reborn, Firestorm stops Killer Frost who attempted to absorb all the power of the Sun.
The sun also is often portrayed as the source of power for Kryptonians such as Superman and Supergirl (the fact that it is yellow star is sometimes credited with this ability).
The sun also plays an important role in the story arc Final Night where a sun-eater has attacked it and extinguished it. It is eventually restored through the use of Hal Jordan's power in what is viewed as an act of redemption for him before his death.
