Dracona Daggers were created by Kelly Thompson and Meredith McClaren in Black Cloak 1.

Description

A Dracona dagger can kill even very durable beings, such as royal elves. It is said that only Dracona can survive an attack from these weapons. They are very sharp but presumably their innate magic is also part of what makes them so dangerous.

They leave gold flecks in the wound, making a signature injury.

Major Story Arcs

Dracona daggers are fairly rare. Phaedra Essex and Freyal III had one as children, which they used to mark their initials in an ancient tree. Queen Taline later used one to kill Freyal, her son.

However, Freyal didn’t die of the wound, but from some Dracona poison, which he self-administered to call Phaedra’s attention when his death was investigated.

Soon after, an unknown assailant stabs and tries to kill Phaedra with another Dracona Dagger, and then kills himself. She survives because she is part Dracona and she had just been supercharged with a strong healing spell from an earlier injury that afternoon.

Master Ividor, a royal magician, is killed by a Dracona Dagger in the climactic fight between Phaedra and her allies--including Ividor--and the Queen and her loyal magician, Lysanthir. It is unclear whether Lysanthir or the Queen stabbed Ividor.
