The Honor Sword represents all the Yashida Clan were and are and one wish to be. it is perfection of form and function, of reality and spirit to be worn, not by the Lord of the Clan but by the Samurai who best exemplified those qualities.

The Sword was forged from meteorite iron by a Demon swordsmith, The Legend of the Masamune Blade:
It was Yahida Hoken whoe sabdued the powerful bandir Lords of the north, 800 years ago and won the unholy Blade, said to havw been hammered from meteorite Iron by Demon Smiths in the caves of Kyushu.
Yashida Hoken had Masumune himself reforge the Blade into a wew Sword, The Honor Sword. A sword hammered from meteorite Iron, an alien loath stone.
Few have been worthy to wield the honor sword. Wolverine was made custodian of the Honor Sword by Mariko Yashida after having killed Lord Shingen who had disgraced his family name in his criminal endeavors and was unworthy of wielding the family Honor Sword.
Soon after Logan relinquished custody of the Sword to the Yashida Clan Leader, Kenuichio Harada in exchange for caring for Logan's foster daughter, Amiko.
Kenuichio Harada later returned the Honor Sword to Logan for failure to uphold his part of the pact and allowing Amiko to come to harm.
