Horton Cells
Horton Cells are synthetic cells melding carbon and plastic creating a substance that was partly organic which was used to create the original Human Torch.
A number of products were created from Horton Cells within the Human Torch:
- Compound D was created by the Man Thinker from modified Horton Cells that allowed them to control people's minds but it would gain sentience whereupon it tried to convert all of humanity into a hive mind.
- Pyronanos were nano-machines that developed into artificial beings created secretly from cells extracted from the Human Torch.
- Chinese scientist Zhang Chin studied Jim Hammond's body to create the Human Combustion Virus that was a viral bioweapon which infected people on exposure causing them to erupt into flames as they underwent spontaneous combustion.
