Origin

Bound in human flesh and inked in blood the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis is a book of magic based on the Necronomicon of Lovecraftian Cthulhu mythology. According to Lovecraft, the book was written in the early 8th century by the mad Arab Abdul Alhazred. Roughly translated as "The Book of the Dead" this tome should never be read out-loud under any circumstances. the law inscribed can only be described as evil and its inscribed incantations are able to bring ancient evil from alternate dimensions and resurrect demons.

The book contains a passage that can resurrect the recently deceased and even raise an army of undead solders. The Deadites, as they are known, possess corpses and can spread the 'infection' to other humans through contact. The Necronomicon is the antagonist and responsible for creating the pain in Ashley J. Williams life. The book contains many other spells, including one of mind transference. The book can also allow its wielder to reflect spells back against an attacker.

Wilbur Whateley becomes in possession of the Necronomicon and uses it to summon Deadites to torment Ash. He uses the book to summon Yog-Sothoth but because Sugarbaby breaks the spell Yog-Sothoth turns on Whateley.

The Necronomicon is again lost at when the Asylum collapses in on itself.

Necronomicon Rising (2022)

The Necronomicon finds itself in the possession of Dupont a wealthy crazy old man. It is stolen by Herbert West and Bad Ash. West uses the book to open a portal to the future, there they run into Ash and Constance.

Bad Ash escapes but Ash, West and Constance are captured by future Herbert West, who wants to make a copy of the Necronomicon and then the send the original back in time to be found by present day Herbert West.

This plan never happens as Ash and Constance steal the book and use it to send them back in time before Future West can use it to gain ultimate power.

Powers/Spells

Time Traveling Portal - The Necronomicon can open portals that will transport willing and usually unwilling people to other time lines. Times of note are Necronomicon Rising, where the Herbert West reads a page that transports himself, Bad Ash, Ash and Constance to the future year of 3404. Later Constance reads from the book and transports West to the year 1920 and herself and Ash to the Dark Ages. This last spell costs Constance her soul and traps the other two in other timelines.

Summoning Elder Gods- When Wilbur Whateley uses the Necronomicon in Army of Darkness vs. Re-Animator he is able to summon Yog-Sothoth.
