While working as a nighttime security guard, Michael Carter (Booster Gold) stole Rip Hunter's Time Sphere from the Metropolis: Space Museum to travel back in time to the 20th century. The Time Sphere was invented by Rip Hunter in order to travel through time. Brainiac 5 modified the Time Sphere into a Time Bubble for the Legion of Super-Heroes.
