After the fall of the Empire, and the rise of the Alliance, their erupted a period of Civil War among the many factions of the Imperials. This event took place around 4 ABY.

Following a series of events, Luke gave himself over willingly to the Emperor and the Dark Side. Through her connection to the Force, Leia sensed that he was on Byss. When Han heard this, he said that heavily guarded as Byss was, the Millennium Falcon could not make it through to the planet's surface. They would need a cargo transport or a cruiser with a suitable "Imperial frequency".

So Han, Leia and Chewbacca went to Nar Shadda, to visit his old friends Shug Ninx and Salla Zend. Salla listened to Han's requirements, and said that she was assembling a ship suited to his needs, the Starlight Intruder.

The Starlight Intruder was equipped with a hyperdrive, turbolasers and deflector shields. The party used it to make their way onto the surface of Byss. But when the Millennium Falcon was spotted during a scan, the Falcon escaped, but the Intruder was apprehended. Later, it was scrapped.
