The TIE interceptor is one of the most common starfighters used by the Galactic Empire. Designed as a faster and more maneuverable alternative to the standard TIE fighter, it is armed with four laser cannons as opposed to the TIE fighter's two. Some high-ranking Imperial officials use TIE interceptors equipped with shields and hyperdrives, and variants armed with concussion missiles have also been seen.
