The Thermal Detonator as a weapon was introduced in Return of the Jedi when Leia used on to threaten Jabba the Hutt into releasing Han Solo to her.The weapon itself is a powerful explosive grenade commonly used by the Bounty Hunter's Guild and the Rebel Alliance.
