In the year of 2069 on Earth-1287, an invading force of plundering aliens known as The Hoard invaded the planet. Devastating the biosphere and killing or enslaving a good chunk of the populace. In a last ditch effort to save their world, scientists created a solution which would temporarily empower the soldiers in their army in the later era of 2072. A procedure dubbed the Morituri Process by leading genius minds which had the effect of bestowing physiological perfect through two stages of neurosurgical enhancement; such an undertaking worked via overlaying a whole new metabolism over the old one within a select few whom are most capable of handling it. The process was fundamentally flawed however, as few were able to undergo such enhancement and fewer still lasted long enough to acclimate to such power. Many of whom dying most gradually or near instantly during and after operation.
