The Wirepoon was a device first used by Sandman in the late 30’s to climb up the sides of buildings by shooting a steel fastener with a line attached to imbed itself in a wall or wrap around something.

Similar devices have been use by a number of others over the years from Batman to Rorschach.

“Invented” by Gardner Fox for Sandman in Adventure Comics the device was a part of the character throughout the 30’s and 40’s.

Many other similar items have been given to characters over the years.
