Al Plastino was an artist best known for his work on the Superman family of books. Most notably he was the artist that drew the first appearance of Kara Zor-El, Supergirl in Action comics #252 and the first appearance of the Legion of Super-heroes in Adventure comics #247

Al Plastino was one of the most prolific artists at D.C. from the 1940s-1960s. He drew both the Superman and Batman syndicated comic strips in the 1960s and 1970s.
His rendition of Superman defined the character's look in the Golden Age.
