Belen Ortega
Spanish Comic Book Artist & Illustrator.
Belén Ortega is passionate about Japanese culture, she studied Fine Arts at the University of Granada and completed her studies at the Human Academy in Osaka. His professional beginnings were in publications such as Sugoi Magazine, Ohayo! o Generación Sur and the specialized manga and anime magazines of Ares Editorial making illustrations and comics Shirase, Dokan and Minami. He alternates his comics and illustration work with works for fashion design brands such as Jesús del Pozo or Filip Custic, and with the Spanish publisher Planeta, or the Belgian editions Caurette. Until 2011 she was part of the Kamikaze Factory Studio authors' collective as an illustrator, participating in advertising campaigns such as Carolina BOIX, the collective didactic book Kodomo Manga step by step (Monsa), illustrations for manga and anime Vitek Anime Music Experience, Ailyn's Eternal Melody , Deep in the Forest of Charm or Maison Ikkoku: The Songs of the Series. In 2016, Ortega made the illustrations for the comic adaptation of the Millennium saga, by Stieg Larsson, for the Franco-Belgian publisher Dupuis. After publishing for the first time in the United States in Heavy Metal Magazine, she began to work with Marvel and DC Comics, becoming the first Spanish woman to do so. In 2021, in Batman: Urban Legends, he made the images of the passage written by Meghan Fitzmartin where Tim Drake, Robin's identity that always accompanies Batman, reveals that he is bisexual.
