Chu Fook Hing (17 January 1897 - August 1967) was a Chinese-American comic book artist born in Hawaii. Active during the Golden Age of Comics, he worked for the Funnies Inc. studio and contributed to several publishers, including Novelty Press, Consolidated Press, Superior Publishers, Timely Comics, Rural Home, Avon and Eastern Color. For Rural Home, Hing created the superhero Green Turtle, a character who fought alongside the Chinese against the Japanese during World War II. Hing initially intended to depict Green Turtle as a Chinese man but was reportedly discouraged from doing so. As a result, he illustrated the character in a way that left his ethnicity ambiguous. Hing also created Filipino Kid for Charlton Comics, a character who fought against the Japanese invasion during World War II, but illustrated only the character’s first story in Yellowjacket Comics #1 (September 1944).
