Don Newton was born in St. Charles Virginia, but grew up in Arizona. He was involved in the Science Fiction and Comics Association. Some of his first comic related work was published in Rocket's Blast/ComiCollector and other fanzines . From there he began to get regular work from Charlton comics in their horror line, starting with Ghost Manor #18. Also at Charlton he became the regular artist on The Phantom.
From there he was able to get work with the big guns - DC and Marvel. At DC he did notable stints on Aquaman, Batman, Captain Marvel ( Billy Batson) and the Green Lantern Corps. His work at Marvel was less regular but appeared in the Avengers, and Ghost Rider.
Newton and Marvel had a falling out in the early eighties and he returned to DC to pencil and ink the Green Lantern Corps (his only inking credit). He became the regular artist on DC's Infinity Inc., but was only able to contribute to three issues before being struck down at 49 (Causes have been listed elsewhere as a stroke, a heart attack and throat cancer - unsure of which).
