Scorpion King

Dwayne Johnson when still going by the name of Rock as an actor played Scorpion King in The Mummy Returns. He reprised the role in a spin-off movie revealing the history of the character in The Scorpion King. The Scorpion King movie franchise continued to receive several sequels, but without Johnson.

Sarge

Dwayne Johnson plays the Sarge in 2005 live action Doom movie.

Cliffjumper

Dwayne Johnson voices Cliffjumper in 2010 animated TV-series Transformers: Prime.

Roadblock

Johnson played the lead role of Roadblock in the 2013 Jon M. Chu-directed film G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

Hercules

Johnson played Hercules in the 2014 film Hercules. The film was loosely based on the late Steve Moore's series Hercules: The Thracian Wars.

Maui

Dwayne Johnson voiced the mythological hero Maui in 2016 animated movie Moana. He returned to the role in the 2024 sequel Moana 2, and also plays Maui in the Moana live-action adaptation in 2025.

Mitch Buchannon

Dwayne Johnson plays Mitch Buchannon (originally played by David Hasselhoff) in the 2017 Baywatch remake.

Smolder Bravestone

Dwayne Johnson plays the videogame character Smolder Bravestone who is controlled by people who get pulled inside the game in the Jumanji reboot franchise, first appearing in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, and then its sequel Jumanji: The Next Level.

Krypto

Dwayne Johnson voices the superdog Krypto in the 2022 animated movie DC League of Super-Pets.

Black Adam

In September of 2014, after several months of teasing his involvement in a DC Comics-based film, Johnson at long last revealed that he will be playing Shazam villain Black Adam. The film, Black Adam was released in 2022.

Doc Savage

In May of 2016, Johnson announced via Instagram that he would be taking on the role of Doc Savage in the Shane Black written and directed project. There is no release date set at this time.
