Otto Soglow

A cartoonist and author of several titles. In cartooning, he is probably best known for his character the Little King, who ran in King Features Syndicate newspapers from 1934 until the his death in 1975. The Little King was published by Dell as a comic for several years.

Otto Soglow was an illustrator in New York. His first pulished cartoon was printed in 1919. His work apperared in a number of New York based magazines in the 20s. He is known for a style that combined art deco and minimalism. He was a cofounder of the National Cartoonists Society.

His most famous creation was the Little King. It first appeared in the New Yorker in 1931. From there it migrated to King Features syndicate for newspaper strip, as well as into animation (co-starring with Betty Boop) and comics, published by King Comics, and later by Dell.
