Career

Steve Steere began working for Western Publishing in the mid-1950s, and remained working for them until 1984. He was very prolific during this time, inking for artists such as Tony Strobl, Harvey Eisenberg and Phil De Lara. He worked on titles such as Donald Duck, Uncle Scrooge, and Mickey Mouse, among others. Beginning in 1963 he also worked on Disney books for the foreign market. In 1978 he became the inker for the newspaper comic Scamp. Also in 1978 he began to provide inks for Hanna-Barbera's Top Cat and Quick Draw McGraw, among others. He stopped working for Hanna-Barbera the following year. In 1981 he became the inker of the newspaper version of Mickey Mouse.

Steve Steere was born on June 20, 1925. His son, Steve Steere Jr., is also a comic book artist.
