Walter Brown Gibson was an American author, professional magician, and manager of a number of famous magicians such as Harry Houdini and Blackstone Sr.

He is best known for his work on his creation The Shadow under the under the pen-name Maxwell Grant.

At one point he was writing two Shadow novels a month as well as the scripting the stories featuring the character in Street & Smiths’ Shadow Comics.

He also wrote the first stories that his former client Blackstone the Magician appeared in.
